Mesothelioma Ads Spread To Television
Jan 5th, 2008 by Shaun Carter
I had always heard of mesothelioma on the Internet, from all the people trying to capitalize on writing content targeted to high paying medical terms. But now I am seeing lawyers advertising on television several times a night for people suffering from mesothelioma to call and try to win a settlement.
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, a fire retardant material used extensively and praised for its abilities many years ago. Obviously there is no cure for cancer, so patients are treated with medication, radiation and chemotherapy.
These law firms must be generating enormous sums of money from these settlements as they are spending $50-100 per click on Google.com for mesothelioma terms and now advertising on national television during prime-time. One of the top sponsored listings on Google for the term “mesothelioma” reads “Over $400,000,000 Settled.” I’m pretty sure that standard attorney fees are around 40%, so that would mean revenue of almost $200 Million to this one particular law firm just dealing with mesothelioma claims.
Despite the amount of money being poured into mesothelioma marketing, there are only about 2,000 diagnosed cases of the disease each year. Even though there seems to be a lack of clients because of the rarity of the disease, the lawyers are fighting like sharks over each and every person suffering from mesothelioma and taking it to the bank.
