Girl Gets Detention For Hugging Friends
Nov 7th, 2007 by Shaun Carter
It’s really sad to see what the world is coming to these days. A 13 year old girl from an Illinois middle school was recently given two detentions for hugging her two friends goodbye for the weekend. The school cites their policy banning public displays of affection, but this just goes too far.
Society is trying to turn kids into emotionless, subservient robots and it is really disheartening. Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore, homework is being assigned more heavily and recess and physical education are being reduced or eliminated altogether in school districts around the nation.
Emotional development is key to a child’s evolution into an adult and with the increasing prevalence of these “no hugging” rules it’s scary to think where the world will be in another 20 years.
