The Power of Technorati Tags In Blog Posts
Aug 13th, 2007 by Shaun Carter
Something you’ll notice on all my blog postings is the use of Technorati tags at the bottom of each entry. These links take you to a page of technorati that shows all of the most recent blogs posted using that same tag term. The benefits of using Technorati Tags are huge, as I am receiving about 30 brand new visitors to my blog everyday via people searching for one of those tag keywords through the Technorati site. This is completely free traffic that doesn’t cost me a dime and yet can generate a new base of readers to a blog.
The best part of Technorati users discovering your site is they are much more likely to add you as a favorite blog in their account and/or subscribe to your blog’s feed than a visitor from another source like a search engine. My latest Feed Subscriber update shows 20 people are reading my blog via a feed, this is a 100% increase from last week.
I use a Wordpress Plugin to make adding Technorati tags a breeze. You will find that the SimpleTagsPlus plugin works great for adding Technorati, Flickr and Del.icio.us tags to your blog posts. The instructions are easy and it just takes me 15 seconds to type in the tags after I’m finished writing and presto, you have an instant traffic generating machine attached to everything you write.
