TEAM Leads Quixtar In Lawsuit Victories
Aug 29th, 2007 by Shaun Carter
The Quixtar/Alticor PR machine is doing a magnificent job of misconstruing their level of success in the litigation with TEAM and it’s founders Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady. It turns out that TEAM has won 12 lawsuits nationwide versus 3 for Quixtar (all three of those in Michigan). Quixtar has also been spreading its version of events by confusing its TEAM affiliated IBO’s with threats of suspension and termination if they don’t do as they are told or they would be in violation of a court order.
Because of all the deception, the TEAM attorneys requested the judge who ruled on the Michigan cases clarify the terms of his decisions. It turns out Quixtar was reading a lot more into the decisions than they should have. Quixtar threatened legal action against IBO’s who attend TEAM motivational meetings, but in fact the judge ruled those are still allowed to take place without fear of retribution.
I’m sure there will be plenty more to come in the next few weeks as more cases across the country are decided. All these will lead up to the big class action lawsuit filed in California.

For your readers, it’s important to check out the company’s perspective on the legal situation as well. To find out more about Quixtar and parent company Alticor’s response to the litigation involving these IBO leaders in our business, check out Quixtar execs responding at http://adatudes.opportunityzone.com/default.aspx and Alticor’s official positions at http://media.alticorblogs.com/.
For disclosure’s sake, I head up PR for Quixtar.
Robin,
Thanks for your comment. I am a regular reader of both the sites you have listed. I don’t have a chosen side in this matter, but one thing is for sure - the stories and interpretations of rulings coming out of each side are very different. You’ll notice while this post leans more toward TEAM, several others I have written sided with Quixtar.
There are in fact many cases across the nation involving TEAM IBO’s that Quixtar has not prevailed… why are those cases not being disclosed and discussed on the Alticor Media Blog? I commented on that blog that there needs to be a neutral third party issuing all the statements and decisions from the court rather than have the interpretations come directly from the parties involved because something is being lost in translation on both sides.
The one thing everyone can agree on is the ultimate outcome of this situation will have a very broad impact on the network marketing industry in this country and I hope the industry comes out stronger in the end as many people rely on it to earn a living. Thanks again for your visit and comment.
Those other “cases” are addressed today at the Alticor Media Blog at http://media.alticorblogs.com/2007/08/30/t-r-o-nice-t-r-y/. A TRO is “temporary” and easily obtained; the ruling at the end of that temporary period is what counts.
It seems all these TRO’s TEAM is obtaining will just confuse more people. Closure in this matter probably won’t come through until the class action is decided.
Just an example of what TEAM is telling its IBO’s at meetings and through other communication means is detailed in my latest post - Is TEAM Brainwashing Its IBO’s?
umm … shaun … barely 2 posts later you’re explaining that TRO’s aren’t “lawsuit victories”. Shouldn’t you clarify this post?
ibofightback-
ummm you should go back and read the post you are referring to about TRO’s, there’s not one word in there where I say they are not lawsuit victories.
