TEAM - Amway/Quixtar Class Action Lawsuit
Aug 10th, 2007 by Shaun Carter
Below is a copy of the Class Action lawsuit that Orrin Woodward and co., founders of the “TEAM” which is a Quixtar selling organization, has filed in Los Angeles against Quixtar (Amway/Alticor) citing all their grievances. The irony is that the lawsuit is riddled with inaccuracies that may doom TEAM’s case. For example the complaint states that Quixtar was formed in 1999 and yet somehow a few paragraphs later it states that IBO’s (Independent Business Owners) have been complaining about Quixtar pricing since 1997!
Additionally the timelines of the plaintiffs membership in the company don’t make sense either. These IBO’s are claiming that Amway’s (former incarnation of Quixtar) prices were too high prior to 1990 and were so high as to be “completely non-sellable” by the mid 90’s. Most of the plaintiffs did not even join the company until the late 90’s and 2001. They are also claiming that Quixtar is a pyramid scheme, but these plaintiffs have been perpetuating that illegal activity and profiting handsomely from it for years.
What do they want? Not money… just permission to void the non-compete and non-solicitation clause of their agreement with Quixtar so they can go start a competing company and “steal” their existing group of sponsors from Quixtar and sign them up for the new venture.
